Black Forest German Cuckoo Clock Chimes incorrectly?

Sunday, May 31st, 2009
Jen asked:

Hey, my mom has a Black Forest German Cuckoo clock she bought last year. One day while setting the time (back to where it should be) she accidently hit the hour hand. Ever since then the clock no longer chimes on the correct hour.

To illustrate … the clock could strike 6 but it would chime 8 times … or strike 2 and chime 7 times.

Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Nathaniel

Bulova Clocks: An Asset To Home Improvement

Sunday, May 31st, 2009
Bradlley Mckoy asked:

We can’t have too many clocks in our house. They serve as our constant reminders of appointments, classes and family activities that we shouldn’t miss or be late for. We need clocks in order to tell us when to get up, when to start preparing breakfast, when to wake up our kids and when to shoo them to school. These clocks also alert us when it’s time for us to leave for work, when to pick up the kids and when they need to be sent to bed. And, as they grow up to be teens, these clocks remind us to find out where they are at a certain time. Because they have become a big part of our lives, we don’t really notice our dependency on these gadgets until we lose them. In fact, it will be difficult to get on with our everyday routines without these important instruments. Time dictates most of our actions. And, not knowing the right time can definitely cause us to be disoriented and unable to function well. Because it is an indispensable part of our daily lives, we shouldn’t just pick any clock. We should find a reliable brand that is known for its accuracy and precision.

Reliable and Trendy

We can definitely rely on something that has survived the tests of time. Bulova clocks have been around since 1875 and this company is known for combining classical craftsmanship and modern innovation. In fact, it is known for the creation of the first clock radio, the first electric clock, and the Accutron timer mechanism that was used by NASA from the time when man took his first few steps on the moon up to the launch of the Skylab.

In picking a clock, one should also consider the functions that it can perform. It should also suit the location where you plan to put it. A tabletop clock for a bedroom must have an alarm as well as night time illumination. For people who love music and would like to be roused by their favorite station, a radio clock would be great. They can also opt for Bulova clocks that come with a picture frame if they want a more personalized touch. A chiming mantel clock, one the other hand, can help a person keep track of time. The intervals of the chime should be adjustable. That way, the owner of the house will have an idea how many minutes have passed by each time hear hears the chimes.

Not only should the clock answer to your needs, it should also match one’s room. The clock should be able to accentuate the motif of a person’s existing furnishings. Because Bulova clocks come in all shapes and sizes. They consist of a collection of tabletop clocks, mantel clocks, desk clocks and wall clocks. Each Bulova clock has a unique design that can definitely bring out the owner’s personality and a room’s look. Being a product of fine craftsmanship and ingenuity, Bulova clocks will definitely make decorating one’s home a lot of fun.

One of the Most Unique Types of Antique Clocks: Bracket Clocks

Friday, May 29th, 2009
Mitch Edwards asked:

The prices of antique clocks range from hundreds to thousands depending of the type, function and value it has. To many antique clock collectors though, the price is dispensable even more if the clock is of high value and regard.

Various antique collectors do not usually confine themselves to collecting clocks from a single clock-making company or just one type of clock. Their clock collections usually range from different times, made by varying now defunct clock companies, and clocks of different types, sizes and shapes. One of the most popular antique time pieces are called bracket clocks.

Bracket clocks can be traced to the 17th and 18th century, making them truly valuable to the clock collectors. It is an antique, portable clock, which is weight-driven and had to be mounted on a bracket on the wall to support their hanging weight, hence the name suggests. The earlier versions were smaller and were rightly termed as “true bracket clocks” by more meticulous clock aficionados.

A bracket clock would often be a matching ensemble of two individual pieces: the clock itself, and a decorative shelf to match. Bracket clocks are generally made of wood, mostly ebony, and often went alongside with some ormolu mounts, wood or tortoise shell, brass inlay and decorative varnish. These clocks were widely known to be repeaters- that is, you can pull down a lever or cord to make it tell you the time through the striking of the hours.

Bracket clocks were famous for being night-time tellers because it specifically tells the time at night with just a pull of its cord. This was before any type of illumination could be built in to clocks to read the time in the dark. The hourly striking, however, was believed to disturb sleepers during the night, so “silent pull repeaters” were also made to silence its sound by the pull of a cord. These classic time pieces were commonplace at that time but were quite expensive. The clocks were also equipped with a handle for convenient transfer from room to room.

Nowadays, bracket clocks have been made with modernized versions. But the antique pieces remain quite expensive. The look may have slightly changed but its function and value hasn’t also, it is still widely available in the market so it’s very easy to find one for your self.

Cuckoo Clock?

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009
KnightRider asked:

My great Grandmother is now in a senior citizens home and her belongings are being auctioned off in 2 weeks. I am planning on getting an old german cuckoo clock she had in her bedroom. I was wondering if there was a tag on the back that gave the date and location of manufacture since I never tried to remove it from the wall and look? If all else fails I could ask if she still remembers how she got it…

A Rhythm Clock Puts On A Real Show

Friday, May 15th, 2009
Bill Wilson asked:

Tired of your traditional clocks with just a few chimes or chirps? Well, a company out of Japan, Rhythm Clock Company, has taken the world of animated and musical clocks one step further. Established in 1950, they developed what is now the standard for sound and motion clocks. Their rhythm clocks are not some cheap promotional clock, but are high quality, musical timepieces. They display magical motion and brilliant sound for your entertainment.

What Does a Rhythm Clock Do?

If you have never seen a rhythm wall clock in action, you are in for a real treat. These amazing clocks not only announce the time, but put on a real show. A typical rhythm clock’s dial will split open into 2 or 3 sections, parts and figures will start spinning, synchronized lighting will start flashing, and quality sound and music will start playing. What a treat for your senses!

But don’t worry - these clocks generally have an automatic night shut-off sensor to disable the lighting and sound options once the lights go out. The “show” could prove a bit much at two o’clock in the morning!

What Sound and Music Does the Clock Play?

Here is where rhythm clocks really set themselves apart from your more traditional musical clocks. These clocks have a high-quality sound system built into the mechanism that would do stereo aficionados proud. Each clock utilizes either a Clarion Sound System or Dynamic Wave Sound to produce their exquisite sound. These systems produce a crisp and melodic sound while playing a variety of tunes.

If you are a music fan, a rhythm clock will play famous Broadway show tunes, a little Frank Sinatra, the Beatles, or any number of familiar favorites, depending on the model. Some will even play a few Christmas carols to get you into the holiday mood. Not only do these clocks produce music, but include a lighting system that is synchronized with the beat of the music and motion of the figures.

What Does a Rhythm Wall Clock Look Like?

Surprisingly, these wall clocks look like any high end model, with frames constructed of walnut, oak, or composite materials. The clock faces are very attractive with numbers or numerals set in gold and silver. Some models even have Swarovski crystals to give the clock a more elegant appearance.

Rhythm clocks come in a number of different styles - Traditional, Contemporary, and even a Cuckoo - to match all types of decors. Their attractive appearance would make you comfortable decorating with one of these clocks in almost any room. Their elegant styling lends these clocks for use in your living room, den, or most family living areas.

So, if you are looking for a wall clock that is unique and attractive at the same time, a rhythm clock is an outstanding choice. These time-focused “entertainment” centers are truly a joy for family and friends to watch.
